SIX DRAWINGS

IX DRAWINGS is a short instrumental audiovisual performance where a percussionist uses an amplified balloon as an audiovisual instrument. With a contact microphone and a MIDI pedal for effect, the performer explores different techniques to generate sounds (grinding, strokes, bubbles or breathing) and visuals in order to create a unique audiovisual composition.
Sound reactive generative visuals (gives the illusion the public to be inside the instrument, inside the baloon.
Performed in May 2014 at Société des arts technologiques during the IX Symposium.

Everest - A Tribute to the Fallen

Imagine a 1500 ft tidal wave of snow, rock and debris headed straight towards you. This was our reality on April 25th, 2015 at Mt. Everest basecamp when a 7.8 magnitude earthquake triggered a massive avalanche at Mt. Everest Basecamp that claimed 16 lives and critically injured 50+ men and women.

I shot as much as I could before putting the cameras down to help the critically injured and wounded. 16 people lost their lives including my friend Dan Fredinburg - a man who loved life and lived it to the fullest. I did my best as a filmmaker to document the process even though my heart was bleeding from the loss of life. As much as I tried to pretend I was ok, I simply was not. A part of me died that day. I was in shock.

For the next 3 days, I documented the rescue efforts from 17,500 ft above sea level. Over 50 people were successfully evacuated and over 70 rescued from high above the mountain.

Drained, exhausted and sick from neglecting to take care of myself, I secluded myself in my tent while on Everest and proceeded to edit to the best of my ability, an honest portrayal of the events through our team’s eyes. It took me a long time to ‘feel’ the piece, to select the right music and to establish the correct tone. In the end, I stayed up until 1:27am, 3 days after the Earthquake, completing the edit. My internet upload speed was 21kb/sec, which was incredibly painful.

It’s important to remember that this is only a single perspective, many others will have experienced far greater devastation than us. We salute all of the brave men and women who stepped up in the moment to come to the aid of their fellow human beings. It was a herculean effort on the part of hundreds to rescue, recover and evacuate those affected.

My heart goes out to my friend Dan Fredinburg, may your soul rest in peace.

Vivint Solar request me to direct a commercial for them. Then we put together with a big plan. I got a diesel/solar powered Mercedes and asked two of my friends Kenny Styles (filmmaker) and Jac Scott (photographer) to come on the road trip of a lifetime all over the west coast. The journey lasted ten days and we drove more than 3,000 miles. When we started the journey we really weren't sure where the story was headed but by the end it was pretty obvious. Moreover i want to give a special thanks to Jac Scott and Kenny Styles for collaging with me on this project. I teamed up with my buddies Daniel Petersen and Steve Pedersen again and they composed the music. Russ Lasson did a splendid job with the vibrant color. Micah Young and Rich Patch at Universal Post, were a big support also. I also want to thank vivintsolar.com for the opportunity to make this movie.

The Aurora from TSO Photography

I spent a week capturing one of the biggest aurora borealis shows in recent years. This short movie is shot in and around Kirkenes and Pas National Park bordering Russia, at 70 degree north and 30 degrees east. The temperature was around -25 Celsius. Good fun. The clip is also available in Digital Cinema 4k.

The clip is edited time lapse sequences of the sun’s atmosphere observed by the Solar Dynamics Observatory spacecraft between 2011 and 2015. This montage features excerpts of 4K full-disk pictures in severe ultraviolet channels, mostly using wavelengths of 30.4 nm (50,000 Kelvin) partly in combination with 17.1 nm (6.3×105 Kelvin), and provides a glance at spicules, solar flares, filaments and an overview of the sun’s atmosphere. The footage was beautifully captured by the Atmospheric Imaging Assembly (AIA) maintained by the Joint Science Operations Center (Lockheed Martin Solar and Astrophysics Laboratory in collaboration with Stanford University)

Therefore the practice of bonsai growth incorporates a number of techniques either exclusive to bonsai or, if it is used in other forms of cultivation, applied in infrequent ways that are mostly suitable to the bonsai domain. These techniques include, leaf trimming, the selective removal of leaves (for most varieties of deciduous tree) or needles (for coniferous trees and some others) from a bonsai's trunk and branches. Well, clamping using mechanical devices for shaping trunks and branches and grafting fresh growing material (classically a bud, branch, or root) into a ready area on the trunk or under the bark of the tree. Moreover defoliation normally provides short-term dwarfing of foliage for definite deciduous species. Deadwood bonsai techniques are also called jin andshari simulate age and maturity in a bonsai.
